ISLAMABAD: The Opposition Leader Syed Khursheed Shah here on Thursday urged the government to waive off additional 5 percent General Sales Tax (GST) on the petroleum products.
Speaking on point of order, the Opposition Leader termed five per cent increase in GST on petroleum products illegal and unconstitutional.
He urged the government to give maximum relief to the masses in petroleum products as the prices had been decreased in the international market.
He said that the Parliament and Constitution were the important ingredients of the democratic setup which secures the rights of freedom of expression.
He was of the view that the government should waive off 5 per cent tax on the petroleum products for upholding supremacy of the Constitution.
Later, the Opposition staged a token walkout of the session against imposing of 5 per cent additional GST on the petroleum products. -APP
