Always avoided clash of institutions: Asif Ali Zardari

LAHORE: Former president and Co-Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari Sunday said he always tried his best to avoid clash of institutions.
Addressing PPP’s divisional coordinators and district presidents, Asif Zardari said the prevailing circumstances require from us to act by remaining within our senses rather than losing our tempers’.
He said taking oath from former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf was also the part of his policy of reconciliation.
Zardari said the climate is not conducive for holding big public meetings, adding no one can undermine his party and that its workers are brave, they will not lose heart.
“People’s Party is not a limited company that would dissolve,” he said.
Asif Ali Zardari added that his party has helped save the country from a civil war.
The former president also said that in the current situation, political parties along with state institutions need to work towards reconciliation.
Zardari said taking the oath of office during the tenure of General (retd) Pervez Musharraf was necessary at that time and that in the current situation one has to be realistic while making decisions.
He said the PPP was the country’s largest political party which cannot be weakened.
He also announced during the gathering that the PPP would hold rallies in Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa and other parts of Pakistan.
Talking to Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Pervez Elahi who met him at the Bilawal House, he said that the war against terrorism needed to be fought despite all the differences among political parties as no war could be won without national consensus.
It was government’s responsibility to address reservations of Maulana Fazlur Rehman and other political parties over new legislation, he added.
