LAHORE: The PPP is going to launch a membership drive in south Punjab.
“We will start party membership drive in the south. Besides, a south Punjab executive council will be formed as a part of steps to strengthen the party in the south which was once its stronghold,” says newly-appointed PPP south Punjab President Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood.
Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, he said he would restructure the party at the union council level and interact with every worker. He said he would make the PPP stronger in the south and in next elections it would perform better.
Flanked by Jehangir Badr, Haider Zaman Qureshi, Shaukat Basra, Faiza Malik and Abdul Qadir Shaheen, Mr Mahmood said he would come up to the expectations of the party leadership.
He said those (the Sharif brothers) who held media trial of the PPP over loadshedding of the electricity and gas had promised the people to overcome the problem in three months but they had miserably failed.
Mr Mehmood said the PML-N had launched propaganda against him for raising voice for a separate province for the people of the south.
