This government is proving itself as an utter disappointment for the people who are fed up with them and now wishing their early retirement because they simply cannot deliver, said Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, President PPP Central Punjab in a statement issued from here today.
He recalled that the PML (N) leadership boasted during the election campaign that they would get the country out of the crisis of electricity load shedding within months because their experts had already chalked out a comprehensive plan in this regard. They lied to the people simply to come to power, and now they are punishing them oblivious of their revenge that may be inflicted sooner than later, he predicted.
He pointed out that the prevailing petrol crisis was beyond comprehension and the top government functionaries were heavily engaged in passing on the buck to each other instead of contemplating to overcome it. The conspiracy theory is not going to bail them out of the culpability of the crisis, he added.
He said that the Prime Minister was responsible for the crisis because under the cabinet system of democratic government it was the Prime Minister who was responsible under the narrative of cabinet government based on collective responsibility.
He argued that it was not good enough to make a few bureaucrats as sacrificial goats while the real culprits remained there to create more crises with the intention of squeezing the masses dry.
He said that the national life had been crippled for the last two weeks as a result of the non-availability of petrol and the contradictory statements of Ministers to tackle the crisis tantamount to rubbing the salt into the wound of the people.
He expressed the apprehension that the supply of fuel oil was also in jeopardy because its late shipment would seriously disrupt the thermal power generation and the country might experience a total black out in the near future as a result
The crash in the international market of oil prices should have been a source of comfort for the people instead of causing them to continue to face unmitigated miseries with more intensity.
