A meeting was held here today under the chair of Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, PPP President Punjab Central, in which it was decided to contest the by-elections to be held in NA-137, Nankana, that fell vacant of the passing away of Roy Munseb Ali.
Other participants of the meeting were Tanvir Ashraf Kaira, Secretary General PPP Punjab, Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed, divisional co-coordinator Lahore, Roy Shah Jehan Bhatti, District President Nankana Sahib, Asef Khan, distinct president, Shekhupura and others.
In the meeting, it was also decided that all the endeavors of the government would be frustrated that it tend to unleash to delay the holding of such elections based on its fear of losing the seat, or use the excessive administrative authority to secure the desired results.
While talking to the participants Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said that the government had proved its inaptness beyond recognition, and the people were fed up with them due to the back to back crisis of their making. As if the load shedding of electricity and gas was not enough and now the evaporation of petrol from the filling stations had dashed all hopes of the people of any improvement from them, he added..
Tanvir Ashraf Kaira expressed his serious doubts about the ability of the government to fight out terrorism in the country despite the across board massive political support and of the people of Pakistan alike. They lack vision and clarity and without these two pre-conditions to win war against terrorism is an uphill task if not impossible.
He called upon the government stop exploiting the political leadership of the country by playing on their fear of the scourge of terrorism adding it should instead implement the National Action Plan with speed and precision
Chaudhry Manzoor criticized the macro economic policies of the government adding that their privatization policy would be resisted tooth and nail because its juggernaut was stinking with their intention to befit the crony capitalists. The heaviest domestic borrowings by the government have already landed the banking sector into an acute liquidity crunch with negative fall out on the economy, he added.
He made it abundantly clear that the PPP would not allow government to tread on the trajectory of privatization relentlessly at the cost of labor’s jobs and their vital economic interests.
Mr. Asef Khan and Roy Shah Jehan Bhatti expressed their confidence that the PPP candidate would definitely get elected as the popularity of the PML (N) government was at the lowest ebb due to their utter failure to fulfill their tall promises made during the election campaign.
They urged the Party leaders to ensure the holding of by-elections on time adding contemplation of the government to delay the holding of such elections on one pretext or other must be frustrated.
