Tanvir Ashraf Kaira, Secreatry General Central Punjab, has described the statement of the Punjab Chief Minister regarding overcoming the electricity crisis in the country through power generation using LNG fuel as laughable. This he said in a statement issued from here today.
He said that the Punjab Chief Minister was giving this good news after one and half years that also looked casual by any measure because the solution was not as simple as suggested by him.
He reminded him that he made tall claims during the election campaign to control load shedding of electricity within months not years adding that the crisis had assumed horrendous proportion instead of addressing it as claimed by him .
He pointed out that the Punjab Chief Minister was guilty of telling lie to the people intentionally for the sake of getting the votes of the electorates which tantamount to pre-poll rigging by any criterion.
He said that the Federal Minister for Water and Power had repeatedly said that it was not possible to control load shedding by the end of 2017. Taking his statement on its face value it surely negates emphatically the boasting of the Punjab Chief Minister to tackle the crisis much earlier.
He pointed out that the goof of the Nandipur Power Project of the Punjab Government was smacking on its face because its power generation was grossly disprortionate to the narrative of cost-effectiveness that also raised the serious question of its viability altogether.
He pointed out that the exuberant cost of the operation of the power plant and its commissioning had broken the record of the higher cost of producing electricity that cannot be afforded by the domestic and industrial consumers alike.
He suggested to the Punjab Government stop playing to the gallery by holding out false hopes to the people because they would not believe in their assertion because their credibility had been hurt to the hilt.
