Pakistan People’s Party has nominated Raye Shah Jehan Bhatti, as its candidate from NA- 137, Nankana that fell vacant due to the passing away of PMLN) member. It was disclosed by Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, President PPP Central Punjab in a well-attended press conference here today and Shah Jehan Bhatti was also present in the press conference.
He added that the PPP candidate would be supported by Roy Aslam Kharal, ex- MPA, Mian Mushtaq Hussian Dogar, Ex- MPA,Syed Ibrar hussain Shah, Ex-MPA, Asif Khan, ex- MPA, Chaudhary Muhammad Manzoor, divisional coordinator of Lahore adding that the PPP was confident to win the seat in the by-elections as the ruling Party’s popularity had eroded to the embarrassing level due to the worst governance.
He called upon the Punjab government not to indulge in the monkey business of distributing the Local Bodies Funds among the MNAs and the MPAs in view of the instructions of the Election Commission of Pakistan to hold local bodies elections by November this year. The PPP would challenge the government in the court if it did not desist from engaging in illegal, immoral and undemocratic practice of disbursement of local bodies’ funds, he warned.
He reiterated his demand of setting up Provincial Finance Commission Award with the mandate to distribute the provincial financial resources among all districts of the Punjab on equitable basis. He argued that it was extremely unfair to spend more than 50% provincial resources on 8% population of Lahore to complete mega project like Metro Bus which was a perennial drain on the public exchequer. Similar Project was being imposed on the residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi and they had expressed their annoyance many times but the government was least pushed of their concerns.
