PESHAWAR: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Farhatullah Babar on Saturday visited the mosque imambargah in Hayatabad that was attacked the previous day and offered condolences to the community elders on behalf of the party’s co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
Farhatullah Babar was accompanied by PPP Member Provincial Assembly Nighat Orakzai and other party leaders.
He expressed sympathies with the community elders over killing of 22 people.
Farhatullah Babar said the PPP stood with the bereaved families and Shia community in their hour of trial.
He said though militancy and terrorism could not be eliminated in a day, the government should have provided enough security to sensitive places to avert such barbaric acts of terror.
The elders informed the PPP leaders that they had received threats some three months ago and the information was communicated to provincial government. They apprised the visiting delegation of their demands.
He asked the government to provide best treatment facilities to injured and compensate the bereaved families.
