Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, President PPP Central Punjab, on behalf of PPP has expressed total solidarity with the demands of visually impaired special persons and urged the government to accept their demands without further delay. He said in a statement issued from here today adding Punjab government is notorious for embracing the narrative of one hundred insults before letting the sanity prevail upon its actions.
He said that the visually impaired persons had been protesting for the acceptance of those demands which were assured in categorical terms in December last year when police manhandled them and the civil society criticized the government for the shameful brutality.
He said that the PPP supported the demand of reservation of quota of 2% for the blind people in government jobs so that they could lead their lives in honour and dignity for their meritorious services in the respective Organizations.
He added what a big deal of regularization of services of fifty special persons by the government because they deserved this treatment to extricate them from the state of uncertainty that was indeed unbearable for the normal people what to speak of blind people.
He said that there was no parallel between the PPP government and the PML (N) government when judged from the humanitarian perspective. He added that the PPP previous government regularized the services of thousand of temporary government employees but this government at one stage decided sacking of all such poor employees.
He observed that only the families of the regularized employees could imagine the amount of sense of security they attained after the decision and the amount of insecurity they had been subject to before the decision of PPP government.
He reminded that the PPP took tough stand against the possible decision of the government to sack employees adding Syed Khursheed Shah even threatened to go on hunger strike in front of the Parliament if the government lay off poor employees.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo regretted as what the image of the Punjab Government would have been projected both at home and abroad when its police baton charged the visually impaired person last year, and picked up scuffle yesterday with the blind people when they were protesting on the stairs of Provincial Assembly. The visual of the scuffle telecast by TV networks optimized egg on the face of government functionaries, he argued
He said that it was the responsibility of a responsible and civilized government to ensure social security for the special people instead of unleashing the police terror against the helpless and defenseless people.
