Ms. Jahanara M Wattoo, a provincial leader of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and in-charge PPP social media wing Punjab has condemned the forcibly marriage, divorce, gang-rape, and parade of a 22 girl allegedly on the orders of a panchayat in Chiniot.
In a statement issued here from the PPP Punjab media office on Wednesday, Ms. Jahanara M Wattoo appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo moto notice of this incident and initiate legal proceedings against the accused to provide justice to the poor victim and her family.
She said that incidents of rape had increased in the Punjab province as the Punjab police and Punjab administration were sitting idle and were not taking proper steps when such cases were reported and the perpetrators went scot free.
She also said, this is unprecedented and unacceptable. The Punjab government has failed to control such heinous incidents against women.
We will continue to raise our voice till full justice is provided to victims and the police officials who did not take any action against the rapists nominated in the case are punished, she asserted.
