LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples’ Party Punjab President, Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo has lashed out at Shahbaz Sharif, accusing him of living a luxurious life at the expense of the taxpayers.
He said in a statement issued on Saturday that the Election Commission of Pakistan had taken notice of the deployment of 761 personnel on the security of the Sharif family, costing the public exchequer Rs. 20 million per month.
The Election Commission has directed the Punjab government to withdraw the hundreds of security men.
Wattoo said the Sharifs were wilful defaulters of Rs 3.48 billion in Hudabiya Paper Mills case, which was evident from the judicial confessional statement of Ishaq Dar who also testified in the same statement that they were involved in money laundering as well. PPP Punjab President said that Shahbaz Sharif spent around Rs. 72 billion on Metro Bus Service as a showpiece project of his performance at the cost of the rest of the province of Punjab.
“Shahbaz Sharif wasted billions of rupees on politically motivated but unsustainable ventures like Sasti Roti, yellow cab and Ashiana housing schemes. His over-centralised style of governance controlling a dozen Departments was surely not mudslinging,” said Wattoo. He also accused the former Chief Minister of supporting religious extremists for political gains.
Shahbaz Sharif had earlier said that political rivals were subjecting his family to mudslinging.
