Mr. Shahbaz Sharif should become foreign minister of Pakistan as he spent most of his time in undertaking foreign tours and leaving the province of Punjab at the disposal of his sons to run it, said Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo in a statement issued from the Party Secretariat here today.
He observed that the province of Punjab was 62% of Pakistan and therefore it would be appropriate if it was administer by a full time and dedicated chief minister to look after the pressing issues pertaing to serious law and order, load shedding and heinous crime that had surged upwardly.
He pointed out that the incumbent chief Minister was unable to provide leadership to the province as well due to his other pre-occupations and therefore he should be given the responsibilities measuring up to his new interest.
Mian Manzoor Wattoo said that the members of his own party were equally allergic to his treatment meted out to them as they were hardly taken into confidence on matters relating to their constituencies and other important provincial matters.
His conducting of as Parliamentary leader of the Provincial Assembly was embarrassingly not worth mentioning because he scarcely showed up in the House that reflected poorly on his interest in the parliamentary traditions.
He observed that instead of reaching out to the other parties to build political consensus the members of his own Party were annoyed over his obstinacy that was limitless, unfortunately
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo described that Shahbaz Sharif’s chief ministership was confined only to the Ferozepur road Lahore and the rest of the province was suffering due to his indifference to the development of other regions.
He pointed out that the pathetic conditions of the government schools explode in the face of the chief Minister because the schools were without proper building, no furniture and drinking water facilities and no other basic facilities.
He recalled that during his chief ministership in 1994 he not only got compulsory Education Act passed but also implemented it adding not sending the children to school was an offence.
He also stated that the misuse of speakers was totally banned during his time and the enforcement was total without contradiction. No one was spared who found displaying the arms that helped in controlling the menace of sectarianism and crimes in the province in 1994 to a large degree.
