While commenting on the Prime Minister’s yesterday’s resolve to reduce load shedding down to six hours in the presence of the Punjab Chief Minister Shabazz Sharif, Mian Mansour Ahmed Wattoo, President Punjab PPP, wished them well but added the success rate of their fulfilling the promises is hopelelessly poor.
He recalled that the Punjab Chief Minister during election trail boasted that he would control load shedding in months not years but almost an year had passed but the load shedding was getting worse every day.
He also made a laughable commitment in case he failed to deliver in this regard he would prefer to change his name. Mian Manzoor Wattoo stated that the time was right for him to honor his commitment or eat a humble pie.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said that the Punjab Chief Minster’s list of failures was long stretching from improving the law and order situation to following the anti-farmers policies, pathetic conditions of the government educational institutions and the rural areas’ criminal negligence exploded in the face of his good governance.
He added that the Punjab Government’s endeavor to hide behind the smoke screen of survey had backfired because the credibility of the organization and the government had been badly hit in the eyes of the people.
He said that due to the load shedding of the electricity the industrial sector’s productivity had suffered hugely and its impact on the economy was appalling leading to massive unemployment and correspondingly the people were forced to live below the poverty line which was depressingly around 55% according to the latest study.
He criticized the policies of the government for extending liberal incentives to the capitalists who were notorious for parking their money in the foreign countries after making startling earnings with the connivance of the top government functionaries.
He recalled that the government benefitted the industrialists by waiving off more than 300 billion of rupees exemptions in duties and taxes by issuing SROs lately.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo referred to different reports indicating that the government had embarked upon massive borrowings that would definitely land the country in debt trap with grim consequences for the country.
He said that instead of focusing on tax collection and improving the system of revenue generation and controlling corruption in the FBR, government had opted for easy option but with horrendous consequences for the future.
