People’s Kissan Wing, an allied Wing of the Pakistan People[s Party, met here today under the chair of Nawab Sheer Waseer, and Punjab PPP President, Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo attended the meeting at a special invitation. District Presidents of the province participated in the deliberations.
In the meeting, a resolution was passed expressing full solidarity with the demands of the Kissan Ittehad and urged the government to accept all their demands immediately in the interest of the small farmers in particular.
The resolution also demanded that the agricultural produce from India may be stopped forthwith because the Pakistani farmers cannot compete with their counterparts of India because they are getting the inputs from the government almost four times cheaper than the Pakistani farmers.
It was also demanded that the inter-districts ban on the wheat movement be immediately lifted because the farmers have to sell their wheat at cheaper rates due to ban because farmers need money to make outstanding payments. The middle man is benefiting due to this ban at the expense of the small farmers.
The resolution also expressed grave concern over the water theft by the influential and therefore the poor farmers ate being deprived from their share of water. The resolution asked the Punjab Government to take immediate notice of it to stop the water theft.
The resolution also urged the government to expedite the payments of croers of rupees from the flour mill owners who have been delaying it to the farmers on one pretext or another.
