PPP Punjab general secretary and former finance minister Tanvir Ashraf Kaira has alleged that PML-N was given a rigged-mandate under a global agreement against the interests of the nation, and demanded that Nawaz Sharif in his first speech as prime minister must tell the nation about that global agreement and also what sacrifices people would have to pay in return.
Addressing a Press conference at party secretariat on Friday, he said Nawaz Sharif should tell the nation as to what policy he would adopt regarding the drone attacks, and whether he would roll back Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project and the handing over of Gwadar control to China.
Kaira recalled that Nawaz Sharif had been alleging that during the last five years that drone attacks were the result of receiving US aid, and said now Nawaz must tell the nation if he would stop drone attacks by rejecting the US aid or not. Kaira said soon after the elections Pakistan began receiving five billion dollars aid, besides the cheap oil which would be used to generate electricity. He asked why Nawaz Sharif refused to give a deadline for ending power outages, adding that if this showed his non-seriousness towards this vital issue. He recalled that PML-N’s Punjab government had been allocating a huge amount every year for power generation but it was never spent on power generation.
