Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, President Punjab PPP, inaugurated the blood camp at Awan-i- Iqbal here today organized by the Lahore PPP Party as a part of the observance of the birthday anniversary of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto where workers and leaders donated blood for the brave soldiers who are now fighting against terrorists to safeguard the security of the country. President PPP Lahore Madam Samina Khalid Gurkhi was also present at the occasion along with other leaders of the Party.
It may be mentioned that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto issued the instructions to the rank and file of the Party to observe the birthday anniversary of Shaheed Mohtrama Benazir Bhutto in sober manners by donating blood for the brave soldiers instead of celebrating it with cutting of the cakes as the country was in a state of war.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo along with Madam Samina Khalid Khurkhi went around the blood camp and appreciated the commitment of the donors for the Party adding they were expressing their rare gesture of solidarity with the soldiers by donating their blood.
The function went off very well and the donation of blood by Jehan Ara Wattoo, head of Social Media, set the inspiring tone of the anniversary followed by a large number of workers who were equally enthusiastic to donate blood for the worthwhile cause.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said that the enthusiasm of all was inspiring that showed how much they hold their leader in high esteem and adherence to the instructions of the Party Chairman.
On this occasion while talking to media, Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said that his Party would join any alliance which was dedicated for the continuity and strengthening of democracy in the country adding all other considerations for the Party had no meaning. If there is a political alliance focused for the promotion and strengthening of democracy the Party will give serious thought to the proposition, he added.
He said that the track record of the Party was the testimony to the fact it had always stood by democracy and the rights of the less privileged even under the most inhospitable conditions of successive dictatorships.
He strongly condemned the Model Town incident in which Punjab Police used brutal force recklessly without provocation killing many PAT works and injuring others. We are with Dr. Tahir-ul- Qadri in this abhorrent incident and deeply share the grief of the bereaved families and pray for the early recovery of the injured men and women.
On the resignation of Rana Sinaullha, he commented that he had been made sacrificial goat to save the skin of Punjab Chief Minister because ultimate responsibility was on his shoulder under the narrative of collective responsibility under the parliamentary system of government.
While responding to another question, Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said that the stance of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto had been vindicated as he maintained there months ago that the terrorists had to be defeated on their turf because the policy of appeasement was both dangerous and counter- productive. Today, almost all the political leadership, civil society and intelligentsia were supporting the use of force against terrorists, the only language they understand, he added.
On another question, he welcomed the restoration of GEO TV channel by PAMERA adding that the PPP firmly believed in the freedom of press under the article 19 of the constitution that enshrined the code of conduct for the media as well. Freedom of media and functioning democracy cannot be separated, he added.
