PPP Punjab to observe black day on July 5

The PPP will observe July 5 as ‘black day’, which is when the late dictator Gen Ziaul Haq dismissed the elected government of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and imposed martial law in the country.

This was announced by PPP Punjab President Manzoor Wattoo at a meeting of party’s Punjab Executive Council and Punjab Council here on Friday.

It was also decided that maximum Iftars would be held during Ramazan, which would provide them an opportunity to establish contacts with their workers and other segments of society.

The participants urged the leadership to open a “study circle” in the party secretariat, which should serve as a portal of information about the PPP’s struggle, its pluralistic philosophy and unwavering commitment to democracy.
