Imran Khan ‘s anti-government campaign is focused to create a political environment for the mid-term polls, said Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, President Punjab PPP in a press conference held here today.
He made it clear that the PPP was not making efforts for mid-term polls but would be fully geared up to face the political situation in the largest interest of democracy and peoples’ empowerment. It will not leave the field open for the opportunists and crooks, he observed.
While responding to another question Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo predicted that the PTI Chairman would take back his long march call before Eid because long march and military operation cannot co-exist at the same time.
In his opening statement, Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said that the organizational work of the Party at the district level was almost complete adding that during the next two months Party leadership would like to go down the Union Councils and wards levels in the rural areas and the urban areas respectively.
He said that the blood donation campaign as a part of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s birth anniversary was going on very well and the blood so donated had been handed over to the CMHs located in the respective districts. The blood donation as per the decision of the Chairman Bilawal Bhutto is meant for the soldiers now fighting the war of survival, he added.
He said that the Party would observe the 5th of July as the” Black Day” when General Zia-ul-Haq dismissed the elected government of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and imposed military dictatorship in the country spread over eleven years.
He said that the Party would hold functions and seminar in which rich tributes would be paid to the PPP workers of the Party and its leaders for waging struggle for the rights of the have-nots and for the restoration of democracy usurped by dictators.
He said that in the months of September and October Workers Conventions would be held at the district level and Chairman would address each convention through video link. These conventions will be interactive in nature in which workers will ask questions to the Chairman and other leaders, he added.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo added that in pursuance of the decision of the Party leadership camps for the collecting relief goods and cash would be set up right across the province to help the IDPs who were now homeless due to the military operation against terrorists. Two main camps will be set up at Lahore and Rawalpindi, he disclosed.
