In a statement on Monday, Tanvir Ashraf Kaira said the CM’s confession would not restore his credibility built on words than actions. He said the CM made tall claims of controlling the loadshedding in months not in years but the ground reality was that it was other way round. Kaira alleged that the CM tried to hoodwink people but at the end of the day, his good governance exposed. He pointed out that the disaster of Nandipur Power Project could not be hidden behind the smokescreen and now the cat was out of the bag and the government had to face the consequences.
He observed that the running the expensive publicity campaign in media would not help him establish the much touted good governance because the ground realities were presenting the entirely opposite picture.
While referring to the belated taking notice of the loadshedding by the PM after half month of Ramazan, Kaira maintained that it was tantamount to joking to the people whose miseries had compounded due to long loadshedding. He said the response of the PM to ongoing loadshedding was mind numbing because it reflected the extent of indifference and apathy to the problem facing all and sundry.
Tanvir Ashraf Kaira said the CM used to protest loadshedding at Minar-e-Pakistan.
“Shahbaz made a tall claim of controlling outages in months but the ground reality is other way round. At the end of the day he faced an embarrassment,” he said.
Mr Kaira, who remained finance minister in the provincial coalition government in 2008, also criticised the chief minister for making the public believe that the Nandipur Hydel project was functional.
“The publicity campaign in the media on electricity issues will not help Shahbaz establish the much touted good governance,” he said.
Mr Kaira did not spare the elder brother of Shahbaz, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who stated in the media that he had taken notice of loadshedding in Sehr and Iftar hours. He said it tantamount to a joke to the people whose miseries had compounded due to the torturous outages.
The PPP leader said the chief minister used to protest loadshedding by setting up his office at Minar-i-Pakistan besides leading processions causing damages to the public property.
“Now he is asking the people not to hold demonstrations to protest loadshedding,” he said.
