Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, President Punjab PPP, has urged the government to give free hand to the Azadi marchers of the PTI on August 14 in Islamabad. This he said in a statement issued from here today.
He further said that it was also the responsibility of the PTI leadership to ensure peaceful Azadi march for the sake of democracy and the country adding show of high handedness on the part of either side would push the country to a deeper crisis.
He observed that Imran Khan was a leader of national stature due to democracy and therefore he should not hesitate to stand up the forces those were lurking in the shadow to harm it. The people of Pakistan had rendered countless sacrifices for the attainment of their democratic rights usurped by their enemies, he pointed out.
While commenting on the Pakistan Awami Tehrik workers who were wearing gas masks and wielding offensive sticks, Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo maintained that it was the reaction of the Punjab police brutalities committed against them outside the residence of Dr. Tahir-ul- Qadari killing more than fourteen people and injuring many.
He said that the whole civil society had rejected the criminal decision of the Punjab Government to use blatant force just to remove the barriers outside PAT Chief’s residene.It speaks volumes of the lack of administrative acumen of the Punjab government’s mandarins who unleashed the reign of terror on the innocent and unarmed workers.
He said that now the localities in the vicinity of Model Town, Lahore, were literary under siege because the government had blocked the roads by putting a large number of containers paralyzing the normal life.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said that the PAT workers wearing gas mask and wielding sticks was regrettable who killed two officials of the law enforcement agencies and injured more than one hundred of them. Their conduct was regrettable adding they should have not taken law into their hands.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo expressed his deep condolences to the families of the police officials who were their bread earners and expressed sympathies to the injured police officials.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo reiterated that the PPP and its leadership was totally committed to the continuity of democracy and would not let its derailment come what may.
