Government wants to make institutions strong: Governor Punjab

LAHORE: Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa has said that the government keeps on moving ahead with great patience and used criticism to reform itself.
Addressing an Iftar party hosted by PPP Punjab Information Secretary Raja Amir Khan here on Monday, he said that in four and a half year PPP worked in line with the philosophy of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
The government has solved numerous problems created by dictators, he added.
He said that President Asif Ali Zardari is the only leader who had given all its powers to the Parliament. He said that PPP had restored the Constitution in its real form.
He said that the provincial autonomy was a great issue which was solved by the PPP-led government. He said the 20th amendment was made to safeguard the judiciary.
He said the PPP would complete its constitutional tenure while the caretaker government would be formed with consensus.
To a question, he said the government had always respected the judiciary adding that the PPP had accepted the decision of court regarding Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto which was later rejected by the people and history.
He said the PPP did not want conflict among the institutions adding that it want to make the institutions strong.
He said that people’s decisions are alway different and it was evident from the by-elections of Multan which PPP had won.
He said that political parties and media had played great role for strengthening and stability of the democracy. He said that judges had never given public statements but now the things were different.
PPP Punjab President Imtiaz Safdar Warraich, PPP Punjab Finance Secretary Aurengzeb Burki, Faiza Malik, Naveed Chaudhry were also present on the occasion.
