Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, President Punjab PPP, while addressing a press conference here today said that peaceful procession was the fundamental right of the people under democracy and it does not warrant any administrative action if the percussionists do not take law into their hands. The use of brutal force in Model Town was totally unjustified against the unarmed PAT works, he added
He said that no doubt that the present political stalemate was the making of this government but giving the punishment to the entire nation was unjustified and could not be condoned by any civilized society and constitutional measure. Both the parties should exhibit flexibility to find the political solution, he added.
He observed that the major responsibility to take measuring up initiatives lies on the shoulder of the government because it was the biggest stakeholder and was in position to offer concessions.
He maintained that if the government had responded to the demands of the PTI earlier by opening the four constituencies of Lahore for voters’ verification the political gridlock would have been safely avoided.
While responding to a question Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said that the Model Town incident aggravated the already volatile situation in which more than14 PAT workers were killed and about ninety suffered bullet shots.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo added that the delay in the registration of FIR on one pretext or another left no other option to the PAT Chief but to agitate for seeking justice.
MIAN Manzoor Ahmede Wattoo said that now the court had ordered the registration of the cases in the Model Town incident, it was incumbent on the Chief Minister to honour his commitment and resign because he was the chief executive of the Province.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo observed that if the Chief Minister had ordered the registration the FIR of the incident soon after the abhorrent incident the situation would have been entirely under control with no negative reflection on the government and the political system.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo made it clear that the PPP was unequivocally for the continuity of democracy and in case of danger the Party would not only opposed such misadventure to frustrate the insidious designs thoroughly and comprehensively.
Earlier, members of the well known political family of Hafizabd joined the Party and expressed their full confidence in the leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, Co- Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and President Punjab PPP Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo.
