Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo had appreciated the reiteration of the Pak army for its unwavering and unabated commitment to the constitution and democracy. He said this in a statement issued from here today.
He added that the conduct and actions of the army leadership during the PPP previous democratic government and today spoke louder than words so far as its supportive role for the continuity of the democratic process was concerned. It is heartening that the army leadership is totally devoted to undertake its responsibilities within the ambit of the constitution, he added.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said that the investigations of the rigging allegations were of paramount importance to satisfy the agitating parties and indeed the whole nation. It has emerged as the national demand and the leadership of all spectrums fully agrees to its urgency and necessity, he stated.
He underscored the importance of conducting impartial investigations into the rigging allegations by the Supreme Court Judicial Commission in the face of the apprehensions expressed by the aggrieved parties.
He further suggested that the heads of the Parliamentary Parties should guarantee the non-interference in the investigations by the Prime Minster and Imran Khan should honour it by accepting it.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo maintained that the present situation was undoubtedly the result of the mishandling of series of unfortunate events by the government of the day but that should not hold the nation back not to march on road to genuine democracy.
He reiterated that the PPP stood committed for the supremacy of the constitution and continuity of the democratic process in the country as it considered these two causes as non- negotiable and any compromise on these was unthinkable to the Party leadership.
He added that the Party’s whole history was immersed with the long and assiduous struggle for people’s rule adding it was more determined today to defend it under all circumstances no matter how many sacrifices it had to render.
People’s Party will uphold the legacy of its great leaders of empowering the people of Pakistan as the ultimate arbiter, he asserted.
