Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, President Punjab PPP, has appreciated the Institutional response, Army, through ISPR the other day announcing in no uncertain terms that Pakistan Army was committed to the Constitution and the continuity of the democratic process in the country.
This he said in a statement issued from here today adding it would discourage those elements in the country’s politics who insidiously tend to exploit the army for the fulfillment of their political ambitions. They seek culmination of their misplaced political objectives outside the democratic dispensation, he observed.
He said that such unequivocal clarification by ISPR was badly required to end the confusion created by this government that was looming on the political horizon of the country causing extreme anxiety among the people who wanted the continuity of the democratic process.
He argued that the present political situation had not arisen in the first place if Chief Minister had resigned after the Model Town incident in which 14 peoples were killed by Punjab police.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo maintained that after the ISPR clarification now debate in the media in this context would also die down to a large extent that had been monopolizing the air time on the TV screens since the politics of sit-ins in the federal capital.
He recalled that the incumbent military leadership and of during the PPP previous government had been manifestly committed to the constitution and democracy and the completion of the constitutional tenure by PPP government was the physical manifestation of the truth.
He welcomed the reconvening of the political Jirga hoping that the politician’s efforts would bear fruit eventually because they were equally cognizant of the ordeal the nation was passing through due to the stalemate. Major responsibility, of course, lies on the shoulder of the government, he commented.
He urged to the agitating parties and the government to give space to each other in the negotiations so that the amicable solution could be found and the nation to take a sigh of relief as a consequence.
He regretted the arrests of hundred of workers of PTI and PAT by government might vitiate the political environment. It is bad time for such antics, he argued.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said that it was imperative on the incumbent government to focus its energies and resources on solving the problems of the people who were leading miserable lives due to surge in prices of items of common man use, worsening law and order situation, torturous load shedding of electricity and gas, excessive electricity rates and now devastating floods due to the non- implementation Flood Commission Report 2010 by the Punjab Chief Minister.
