Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) patron-in-chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has announced that he will be contesting 2018 general elections from NA-207 Larkana-Ratodero .
The NA- 207 had been the home constituency of late former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, Bilawal’s mother. In May 2013, former president Asif Ali Zardari’s sister Faryal Talpur was allotted this seat.
Bilawal on Monday was addressing the media at his residence in Karachi. He was accompanied by Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, PPP-AJK president, Sherry Rehman and PPP Punjab president Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo.
He ruled out the possibility to contest in by-elections, adding that he would start his parliamentary politics from his ‘family seat’ in the next general election.
During the address, Bilawal criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek for staging a sit-in in Islamabad while floods across the country had ‘put the lives and properties of people at stake.’
He further said that the politics of sit-ins should be ended and instead the flood affectees and those displaced due to the military operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ going on in North Waziristan should be helped.
The PPP patron-in-chief welcomed the announced by Punjabi Taliban to lay down their weapons but, he added, their past actions should not be forgotten and law should take its course against those who killed innocent people and Pakistani soldiers.
He appealed to the government to ensure speedy recovery of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani’s son Ali Haider.
He rejected that there was any Taliban faction in Sindh.
Sindh CM Qaim Ali Shah announced an aid of Rs100 million for the flood affectees in Punjab.
PPP leaders also announced to donate another Rs100 million for the flood vicitms of Azad Kashmir and fifty trucks of essential supplies for AJK and Punjab.
The PPP Punjab president Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo has thanked Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Sindh government for providing relief to flood victims of Punjab.
