Kaira: Caretaker setup to be installed on March 18

ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira told the caretaker set-up will be installed on March 18 at a time when the government completes its constitutionally mandated tenure.
In his brief chat with media-people here Thursday, Kaira said says, “the terms of the parliament ends on March 18 and the term of the government also ends the same day.”
He said that there would be no disagreement to mar the setting up of caretaker government adding his government was moving ahead to garner consensus with all political parties on issues of mutual interests.
He however, said if his government failed to develop consensus on caretaker government then there was established procedure in the constitution to reach an agreement with regard of caretaker setup. “I am sure there will be no delay in establishing caretaker setup and there will be no disagreement,” he added.
He said that names of those to be part of the caretaker setup would be announced with joint consultations with other political parties and stakeholders.
Coming hard on opposition leader Nisar Ali Khan to name candidates for caretaker government, Kaira said that his party wants result-oriented consultations well on time adding that he didn’t believe on point scoring on the issue. He went on to say that the government would extend every possible cooperation to the election commission adding that the PPP wants free, fair and transparent elections. He informed that overseas Pakistanis were not being given the right to vote under the constitutional and judicial decision.
