Lahore—PPP leader and MNA Faryal Talpur on Sunday gave away compensation cheques to 31 relatives of fire victims of shoe factory, Bund Road in a ceremony here at Governor’s House.
Addressing the cheque distribution ceremony, she said that not only political parties but all of us should come forward to help the people who were affected in different incidents.
She said that there should be proper rules and regulations to check such like incidents besides ensuring the availability of safety equipments including escape route and others fire fighting equipments in the factories.
She thanked Malik Riaz of Bahria Town and Goodwill Ambassador for Orphan children Jahanara Wattoo for taking initiative to help the fire victims.
She urged the provincial governments to visit industrial areas and properly inspect them to ensure that no such incident take place in future.
She said that this money could never be the alternate of lives but the PPP was giving this money to the family members of affectees to tell them that the government is with them in this time of trial.
Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa paid tribute to President Asif Ali Zardari who very effectively presented the case of Muslim community during his address in UN General Assembly.
He said that President made it clear in his speech that we would sacrifice our lives for the love of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) but would not allow anybody to hurt muslim feelings by doing such nefarious acts.
He said that President had visited the Mayo Hospital to inquire after the fire affectees and prayed for their early recovery.
He said that PPP was a party of people and wanted to ensure the welfare of people adding that PPP believes in action not in words.
He said that illegal construction were made near River Ravi by land grabber (Qabza Mafia). He said that he had written a letter to President and Prime Minister to bring this matter into their notice so that proper inquiry should be conducted in this regard.
He also prayed for the quick recovery of the fire victims in Lahore and Karachi. He said that PML-N Mian Nawaz Sharif had not given a signal penny to the fire affectees of Karachi except lip service.
Goodwill Ambassador for orphan children Jahanara Wattoo said that PPP was the only party which could feel the sentiments of people and it had never left the people alone in tough times.
Brig Ahad said that Bahria Town had always helped the people in the need of hour and would keep doing so.
Jahanara Wattoo had given cheques of Rs 30,000 to each 20 family members of those who lost their lives in fire incident.
Bahria Town had given cheques of Rs 200,000 to each 20 family members of those who lost their lives in the fire incident and a cheque of Rs 100,000 to each 11 relatives of those who received burn injuries in it.
PPP Punjab President Imtiaz Safdar Warraich, Federal Minister Samina Khaild Ghurki, Raja Riaz, Faiza Malik, Aziz-ur-Rehman Chan, Raja Amir Khan, Chaudhry Manzoor, Jahangir Badar and others were aslo present on the occasion.
