Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said here today in a staement that the Government, PTI and PAT should accept the investigations of the election rigging allegations through the Judicial Commission of the Supreme Court adding that the parties should accept the consequences of the findings as agreed upon. The issue of TOR’s should not stall the progress in the political settlement, he added.
He maintained that if the Judicial Commission confirmed the rigging then the Prime Minister should immediately resign and dissolve the National Assembly to seek the fresh mandate from the people of Pakistan. In that case, it would be the only way out to resolve the crisis in accordance with the ambit of the constitution, he maintained.
He observed that the national politics was struck in close alley and the refusal of the agitating parties to create flexibility in their stance was posing a grave danger to the political system and indeed to the federation.
He said that the nation had been passing through an ordeal for the last many weeks as the government had paralyzed and the whole routine of the normal life badly affected and the government writ was not visible any where due to sit- ins..
He warned that if the constitution of the country was suspended or abrogated the fragmentation of the federation was the foregone conclusion because it was the constitution that had been keeping the federating units intact throughout the ups and downs of national politics.
He pointed out that the people of the country were already leading a miserable lives due to the run away food prices, worsening law and order situation, poverty, unemployment and excessive load shedding of electricity adding the prevailing political uncertainty in the country was a torture of unbearable proportion for them.
He expressed the firm resolve of his Party that it would defend the constitution, democracy and the rule of law come what may because his Party was committed to defend the worthwhile legacies of the founding fathers of the Party.
He said that the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto would address the mammoth PPP rally on October 18 in Karachi in which he would reiterate Party’s unequivocal commitment to the constitution, democracy and the rule of law. These are causes which are non- negotiable for the PPP, he concluded.
