Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, President Punjab PPP, welcomed the declaration of the Lahore High Court Bar Association in Lahore yesterday in which it was earnestly urged that the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf, Pakistan Awami Tehrik and the Government should get together and resolve the current political crisis before Eid-ul-Azha.
He observed that if they resolved the political stalemate it would multiply the happiness of the Muslims of Pakistan and indeed others as well because its continuation would prevent them to celebrate the Eid with traditional religious fervor.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo also welcomed the imitative of the LAHCBA to arrange All Parties’ Conference in Lahore with a view to hold open discussions on national issues facing the country aimed at of evolving consensus.
He said that the LHCBA was the biggest lawyers’ forum of Asia and its deliberations would definitely have positive impact on the country’s politics which was now struck with no clarity in sight.
He said that the declaration of the LHCBA was very reassuring for the upholding the cause of the constitution, continuity of democracy and the supremacy of the law because almost all the political leadership expressed their unwavering support for these cherished causes.
They were indeed unanimous in their conviction that they would not only oppose but also resist if extra-constitutional measures were taken to bring political change in the country
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo highly appreciated the role of the lawyers’ community for the independence of Judiciary in particular adding that their commitment to the rule of law was the enviable guarantee for the continuity of the political system in the country.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said that the PPP was represented in the APC and was fully in agreement with the declaration of the Lahore High Court Bar Association because the Party’s struggle had always been for the attainment of these higher national objectives those represented the aspirations of the people.
He said that the lawyers’ community spearheaded the campaign along with the PPP for the empowerment of the poor masses who had been deprived of political justice and fundamental rights during dictatorships in particular.
