Secretary General PPP, Punjab, Tanvir Ashraf Kaira in a statement issued from here today has stated that the sin-ins politics have proved an exercise in futility adding the decision of the one of the PAT leader to pack up vindicated the stance of the PPP taken right from the beginning in this regard. He will not return to the failed political strategy, he predicted
He said that the other Party would also meet the same ill-fate because these tactics would not force the Prime Minister to tender resignation which was their untenable and unconstitutional demand by any measure.
The tempo of the sit-ins is already on the sharp decline and the enthusiasm of the participants and its leaders have been muted to a pitible extent, he maintained.
He advised them to shun the politics of Dharanas and use the form of Parliament for the honourable retreat and also for the resolution of the issues of national importance adding their apparent disdain to the mother of all institutions was unforgiving and would be held against them in future.
He said that the PPP had reservations about the authenticity of the elections but accepted the results for the sake of worthwhile cause, continuity of the political process, in the largest interest of the country and democracy.
Mr. Tanvir Ashraf Kaira complimented the vision of the former President Asif Ali Zardari who voluntarily handed over his powers to the Parliament to make it as the only institution to decide the issues of constitutional importance to the exclusion of others.
He recalled that the Ex-Presidents recklessly used the powers in sacking the democratic governments despite their majority in the Parliament.
He expressed his firm hope that the role of the PPP in the present political context would make qualitative contributions in ensuring the continuity of the democratic system in the country.
PPP commitment to democracy and the constitution amply manifested when it suggested to the government to convene the joint session of the Parliament that essentially turned the table in favour of democracy and as a consequence to the government of the day as well.
He made it clear that PPP would continue to play the role of an effective opposition doing issues based politics and would not allow the derailment of the democratic dispensation through the politics of sit-ins.
