LAHORE: Former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) that preaches morality and ethics to others should avoid double standards and insisting on constitution of a commission instead of accepting the FIA investigation the case. Talking to the media at Allama Iqbal International Airport after arrival from Islamabad on Tuesday, Gilani said the Supreme Court ruling in the Asghar Khan case validated Benazir Bhutto’s stance of 1990 elections being ‘stolen’. He said politicians were bribed to form Islami Jamhoori Ittihad (IJI) for defeating the PPP in the 1990 polls and in the process the national kitty had been misused. Gilani said the Asghar Khan case verdict had exposed the real faces of so-called champions of democracy. Coming hard on the PML-N over its stance after the decision, he said it was astonishing that whenever the court gave a decision against the PPP, the PML-N leaders started preaching morality and ethics and they should now practically display ethical values. Gilani said the government would comply with the Supreme Court orders in letter and spirit. The former premier said he worked as per the vision of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto for the welfare of the masses and the country, adding the Pakistan People’s Party would win the next general election with the support of the people.
