Mian Mazoor Ahmed Wattoo, President Punjab PPP, has said that the PPP was neither in favour of Dharna politics nor in favour of the undertakers of this kind of politics because of its devastating aftermaths for the political system in the country. He said this while talking to media after the meeting under his chair in which seven Monitoring Committees for seven districts of Punjab were constituted.
While responding to a question he said that the PPP had also serious reservations of 2013 elections adding how it was possible that his opponent got 118 thousands whom he defeated in 2008. Those were ROs elections by any measure, he asserted.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo further said that he respected PTI Chief as the respectable politician of the country but regretted that he had put at stake his political career on the resignation of the Prime Minister.
He argued as how Prime Minister could tender his resignation while he was having two thirds majority in the House, all opposition parties were with him and Parliament was supporting him.
He predicted that Imran Khan would not be able to prolong his Dharna politics like Tahir-ul-Qadari and thereafter the people would question him about the fate of his “New Pakistan.” He will not be able to satisfy the people adding that his graph of popularity would plunge resultantly to the lowest level as the people would get frustrated from him and his style of politics.
He maintained that he should have not put his political career at stake by insisting resignation of the Prime Minister through the politics of sit-in.
Mian Manzoor while answering another question opined that the present government had made the lives of the people miserable due to the excessive load shedding of electricity which was too expensive also.
He added that while a consumer who used to pay Rs. 5,000 electricity bill previously now he had to pay around Rs, 15, 0000 which was not affordable.
He put the question to the Punjab Chief Minister who used to protest electricity load shedding at Minar-e-Pakistan while holding handmade fan.
He pointed out that after the lapse of one and half year the load shedding of electricity had worsened besides its being too expensive to afford.
He stated that the farmers of the province were the worst hit due to load shedding of electricity after each hour because the tubes well were unable to operate to the sufficient level to meet the irrigation requirements of farmers.
He demanded that the government should ensure supply of three hours uninterrupted supply of electricity to tube wells on the pattern as PPP previous government used to do to meet the irrigation requirements of the farmers.
