Executive Committee Punjab PPP that met here today under the chair of Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo passed two resolutions condemning in the strongest terms the bomb blast at Wagha border and the burning alive of two members of the Christian community in Kasur.
In the resolutions, it was resolved that the terrorist would not succeed in weakening the resolve of the Pakistani nation to defeat the menace of terrorism in Pakistan. The resolution further stated that the PPP appreciated the successes of the Pakistan Army against terrorists, and PPP was standing firmly behind the Army to eliminate terrorists from the country.
In the resolution the services extended by the Gurkhi hospital for providing prompt and excellent medical facilities to the bomb blast injured persons were highly appreciated. The services of other hospitals were also recognized by the Committee.
In another resolution, the Executive Committee abhorred the incident of Kasur where a couple belonging to the Christian community was burnt alive. The resolution stated that the incident had brought heap of ignominy for Pakistan in the international community.
The resolution expressed the PPP resolve to protect the life and property of the minorities because they were the equal citizens of Pakistan.
The resolution expressed the resolve of the Party to help the victim family by extending legal services and the necessary action in this regard was already underway. The resolution also said that financial assistance will also be extended,
In the meeting various proposals were discussed in connection with the observance of Youm-i- Tassees of the PPP on November 30, 2014 when Chairman Bilawal Bhutto will be here to meet the Party rank and file.
While talking to media after the meeting, Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said that the PPP was ready to contest the mid-term polls because the PPP was the biggest political force in the country. He expressed his confidence that the PPP would fair well in such elections those were fair, free and impartial.
While answering another question, he said that scores of the PTI MNAs did not want to resign and their conduct was mature that would move the political system in the right direction.
He pointed out that the PTI had decided to resign from the National Assembly and other provincial assemblies except KPK Assembly. It is the manifestation of double standard, he observed.
He further said that the PPP was not supporting the government but democracy for which the PPP had rendered countless sacrifices. For democracy, there is zero tolerance, he added.
