Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, President PPP, Punjab has urged the government for the strict enforcement of the existing laws to ensure the security of life and property of the minorities. He was talking to media after expressing his deep condolences and shock on behalf of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, PPP and on his behalf to the bereaved family of Kot Radah Kishan (Kasur) whose two members belonging to the Christian family, wee burnt alive by a mob.
He said that the fair and non-discriminatory application of law was the condition to ensure the security of the people. He regretted that 14 innocent people were killed in Model Town incident in June this year and the culprits still roaming around freely then criminals embolden to fake law in their hands.
The law should be equal for the poor and the rich adding its discriminatory application defies the administration of the justice and its dangerous social implication to destroy the whole social set up, he urged. The terror of law should strike in the hearts of the potential criminals, he observed.
He further said that the amendments should be brought in the existing laws if that was considered necessary for providing security to the minorities as equal citizens of Pakistan.
He said that the PPP stood for the equal rights of the people of Pakistan regardless of gender and creed as per vision of the founder of the nation and the founder of the PPP.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo referred the statement of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto in which he stated that he would be very happy when a Christian will become the Prime Minister of Pakistan. It optimized the total commitment of the Party for the rights of the minorities of Pakistan, he added.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said that the abhorrent incident had heaped ignominy on Pakistani nation globally and our heads hung in shame. Our image as a nation has taken nosedive at the international level, he added this with heavy heart.
He expressed his outrage over the attitude of the people of the locality who opted for mob justice instead of knocking at the door of the court to seek justice according tho the due process of law.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo assured the family of the victims that the Party would help them in seeking justice through legal system for which Party would also help the family members financially.
Later Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo went to the residence of Chaudhary Manzoor Ahmed, Divisional Co-ordinator, and met the Party office bearers and members.
