Mr. Khurram Jehangir Khan Wattoo, MPA Punjab Assembly, has filed a writ petition today in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Islamabad, parrying for the cancellation of Quaid-i- Azam Soalr Park Project, Bahawalpur, of 900 mw capacity awarded to a Chinese company, Zoenergy, in utter violation of the PAPERA rules.
In the petition, he has also prayed that the Apex Court may order action against the Chief Executive of Punjab and all others for indulging in flagrant violation of the rules in awarding the contracts involving tax payers’ money.
While talking to media in Islamabad, Mr.. Khurram Wattoo said that the Chinese company was a telecommunication company and had no expertise and experience in the sector of power generation. It speaks volumes of the obvious vested interests of all concerned, he observed.
He further said that nowhere in the world such a joint solar project of 900 mw was installed due to its cost –effectiveness and also as the technology was still at the early stages of development which required more research to make it feasible and affordable for the end consumers.
He pointed out that the solar power plant project of 900 mw capacity in Bahawalpur and that too in violation of the rules could not be justified by standards.
