Pakistan Peoples Party Punjab’s social media head and provincial leader of the PPP Ms. Jahanara M Wattoo has strongly condemned the rape incident of a five-year-old school girl, who was `sexually assaulted’ at her school in Islampura on Monday, and was temporarily admitted to the Mian Munshi Hospital for necessary treatment and medical evidence.
She has demanded justice for the girl allegedly raped, condmend the anti-women policies of the PMLN government in Punjab and has called on the executive and judicial authorities to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
She said “every citizen must condemn heinous crimes against women and raise voice.”
According to the DAWN, Islampura police inquiries showed that the girl after attending her school at Abdali Chowk reached her Sanda residence and started crying with pain.
The victim’s family alerted police and reached the school along with a good number of neighbours.
The protesters tried to enter the private school, but policemen foiled their attempt. The mob raised slogans against the school administration for criminal negligence in looking after children during and after school timings and demanded stern action against the suspects.
City SP (Operations) Asad Sarfraz Khan said police had taken five employees, including a security guard, into custody for questioning and also obtained CCTV footage to trace the prime suspect.
He said police were still interrogating some people to identify the culprit, adding all necessary evidence had been collected and sent to the Punjab Forensic Science Laboratory for examination.
