Mian manzoor Ahmad Wattoo, President Punjab PPP, while addressing the 47th Foundation Day Convention of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party here today highly appreciated the successful efforts of Co- Chairman Asif Ali Zardari in salvaging democracy in the country adding that the people consider him as symbol of savoir of democracy.
He said that his role for the cause of democracy would be written in the political history of the country as a shining example. He farther said that he had rescued the democratic dispensation under the most difficult conditions.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo observed that there was no danger of martial law in the country anymore and therefore it was the right time to raise voice against the anti-people policies of this government which were great source of miseries for them.
He referred to the plight of the farmers who were undergoing testing times due to the abject low support price of paddy and sugarcane. The common man is also leading miserable life due to price hike, unemployment, tortuous load shedding of electricity and gas and the worsening law and order situation. The criminal act of the government regarding over billing of electricity to the tune of Rs.70 billion was unforgiving and they did not even care to give an explanation, he added.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo demanded the Provincial Finance Award Commission to ward off the unfair distribution of development funds among the districts by the government of Punjab. The development of big cities at the expense of the small and far flung districts defied the narrative of social justice, he argued.
Mian Manzoor Wattoo highly appreciated the efforts of PYO, PSF, Allied Wings and the youth for decorating Lahore in a befitting manners and the city looked like a PPP city. He congratulated them on behalf of the PPP and on his behalf for such inspiring decoration of the city of Lahore, the birth place of the Party. Participants are missing the presence of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari among themselves.
Later, Makhdoom Shahbuddin, President South Punjab PPP, while addressing the Convention said that there was a need for a final push and that final push would be carried out by the PPP. He congratulated the organizers for arranging the Convention of such scale with full dedication and commitment for which PPP was well known.
Mr. Paul Bhatti, Chief of Minorities’ Alliance, appreciated the PPP for its soft corner for them adding that the PPP did the unprecedented decision by granting reserved seats in the Senate for them. He further said that the PPP created Ministry of Harmony but this government merged it with Ministry of Religious Affairs which was unfriendly act towards minorities.
Mr, Jahangir Badar in his opening address said that the PPP considered politics as a romance with the people and the intensity of this romance had strengthened with the passage of time.
He said that the PPP previous government completed the five years by taking other political forces into confidence and that was a qualitative service to strengthen democracy in the country.
A unanimous resolution was passed that expressed the confidence of the delegates in the leadership of the Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and Co- Chairman Asif Ali Zardari expressing their confidence that the Party would stage full comeback sooner than later.
