Former President and Co- Chairman, Pakistan Peoples Party Asif Ali Zardari, called Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, President Punjab PPP, yesterday night from Iran and discussed with him the political situation as obtaining in the country and affairs of the Party. It may be added that the Co- Chairman is now on tour of the brotherly neighbouring country, Iran.
According to the statement issued from the Party Secretariat here today, the Co-Chairman expressed his condolences with the bereaved family for the loss of the precious life adding that the both the parties should have exercised restraint to avoid the clash in Faisalabad in the interest of democracy as well.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo added that the Co- Chairman urged the agitating parties to pursue the politics of consensus because the radicalization of politics was immensely counter-productive for the political system in place in the country. It was the dire need of the country in the face of multiple challenges threatening our independence and way of life.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Watoo further said that the Co- Chairman was extremely satisfied over the successful convening of the two-day All Pakistan Foundation Day Convention in Lahore, on November 30, and December 2, 2014, which was heavily attended by the office bearers and workers belonging to all parts of the country including G/B and Azad Kashmir.
Co- Chairman will come to Lahore again very soon to live here during which he will visit the various districts of the Province and meet the Party rank file at the gross root level.
Meanwhile, Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo has welcomed the reported decision of the Jirga to approach the Supreme Court praying to constitute the Supreme Court Judicial Commission mandated to investigate the allegations of rigging in the 2013 elections. It is a wise and timely step of the Jirga in the face of the inflexible attitude of the PML (N) and the PTI who apparently seemed determined to fight the duel to the lamentable finish.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo observed that the politics of agitation and non-acceptance of the genuine demands by the government had already inflicted irreparable damage to the country, both at home and abroad, due to their limitless obstinacy. They cannot be allowed to hold the future of the nation as their hostage, he asserted.
