Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, President Punjab PPP, has underscored the importance of summoning the Joint session of Parliament urgently to discuss the whole perspective of terrorism with reference to the entities engaged in the promotion of the mindset that inclined to terrorist tendencies.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said that the political leadership had now vindicated the stance of the PPP that projected that the menace of terrorism had to be fought out because terrorists were totally devoid of civility and heavily inclined to barbarity. Chairman Bilawal Bhutto stands out of the entire political leadership who raised the powerful voice to fight the menace at its turf because it only understands the language of force, he reminded.
He said that the expression of the resolve of the All Parties Parliamentary Conference held in Peshawar quite recently endorsed the position taken by the PPP right from the beginning on terrorism projecting it had to be defeated by confronting it. He welcomed that entire leadership was on one page adding that it was poised to defeat terrorism thoroughly and comprehensively. All is well that ends well, he added.
He said that the time had come that the nation get united to eliminate the terrorists one by one till the last terrorists was exterminated from the country. There is no other option like engaging them in round of talks because it would prove a wastage of time as was the case in the past.
He pointed out as how unfortunate was the assertion of one of the leaders in the recent past in which he asserted that he would have not sent the army in Waziristan had he been the Prime Minister of Pakistan. The other leader in Punjab expressed his confidence that terrorists would not touch the province because the Party had good relations with outlawed organizations.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo suggested to the government to take the Muslim countries friendly countries into confidence in particular and also friendly countries regarding the strategy it was going to implement to defeat the scourge of terrorism. The support of the friendly countries and the international community was critical to nip the evil in the bud as world was equally scared of the permeation of the menace, he maintained
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo was optimistic that the international community was more than willing to support the nation and government of Pakistan in the war against terror because it entailed a formidable danger to the peace and security of the world as well.
He observed that the Pakistan nation had arisen to the challenge because the massacre of the children in Peshawar had jolted the nation to the hilt. It was 9/11 for the Pakistani nation, he commented.
