Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Punjab President Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo – said the government, political leadership, armed forces and civil society were on same page to tackle terrorism. However, he said, it was vital that the sitting government should legislate without any delay to counter terrorism and avert Peshawar-like incidents.
Addressing the peace conference here, he said it was PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari who vociferously condemned any dialogue with terrorists and his views had been seconded by others.
Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar,Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq, Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed, Salman Ghani, Brig (r) Farooq Ahmad, High Court Bar Association President Shafqat Mahmood Chohan, Gen (r) Javed Mahmood, Hamid Riaz Dogar and others were present on the occasion.
He asked the politicians to exhibit unity exhibited and praised Imran Khan for calling off the sit-in. The Peshawar carnage was a 9/11-like incident for Pakistan, he added.
Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar, Sirajul Haq, Mehmoodur Rashid and Salman Ghani also addressed the function and condemned the killing of school children in the Peshawar school attack.
